Established in 2022, the BGSCET Library boost a rich collection that has steadily grown up over the years. Here are some key highlights:

  • Collection: Our library began with an initial collection of 5788 volumes, including books periodicals & magazines. This collection has since expanding significantly.
  • Space: Spanning an area of 810 square meters, our library provides ample space for comfortable browsing and study.
  • Access: We operate on an open access system, allowing users to freely explore our desire collection. Good ventilation ensures a conducive environment for learning.
  • Organization: Books are meticulously arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification system, facilitating easy navigation.
  • Sections: Our library encompasses sections dedicated to periodicals, references, circulation, and reading, catering to various academic needs.
  • Seating Capacity: With seating for over 250 students, our facility accommodates both individual study and group collaboration.
  • Resource Diversity: Our impressive collection includes over 5788 volumes, 456+ titles, 42 national and international journals, 10 magazines, and 12 newspapers, ensuring a broad spectrum of academic resources.
  • Technology Integration: We leverage technology to enhance accessibility, with an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) enabling users to locate resources efficiently. Moreover, our library is fully automated through a "Bar Code Mechanism" (BCM), streamlining processes for both staff and patrons.
  • Book Bank facility: is a unique feature of the institute wherein meritorious and economically backward students are provided text books from the library.

ABOUT LIBRARIAN

Dr.Vedamurthy.Y.N began his career as a Librarian at Dr.SyamalaReddy Dental College Hospital and Research Centre, Bangalore, 2005 and at Indian Academy Group of Institution from 2007 ,M.S.R. foundation from 2008 to 2022 and currently working in BGS College of Engineering and technology till toady and also handling Institutional Repository (IR) NPTEL-SWAYAM LOCAL CHAPTER. He has completed his Ph.D. In Library & Information Science from Chandra Mohan Jha University,M.Phil in Library & Information Science from Chandra Mohan Jha University, Master of Library & Information Science from AlagappaUniversity ,Master of Social work, Annamalai University

He has cleared his KSET in December, 2018.

He has published 03 research papers and has participated in more than 22 State, National and International level Seminars and Conferences.

He has also participated more than 41 Webinars (Hybrid mode) at National and International level.

BGSCET Library: Enriching Knowledge

RULES & REGULATIONS

  • The Library is open from 08:45 A.M. to 08:00 P.M. on all college working days.
  • The circulation service can be availed by the users between 09:00 A.M. and 5.00 P.M. every day from Monday to Saturday.
  • Every User has to submit library membership form to become a member of the library.
  • Users can avail access into the library after scanning their bar-coded identity card at the entrance. This card is non-transferable and the user will be held responsible for its misuse.
  • Members have to inform in the library in case they lose their identity card and/or there is any change in their mobile number, e-mail address etc.
  • The users should leave their belongings at the property racks near the entrance.
  • Silence should be strictly maintained in the library.
  • Users should switch off their mobile phones before they enter the library.
  • Mutilation & Damage of library materials are serious offences. No person should write upon, damage or make any mark upon any Book, Journal/Magazine or any property belonging to the library. Any damage to the library property will be recovered from the concerned persons.
  • All the users of the library are expected to return all the documents borrowed by them and obtain a “No Dues Certificate” before they leave college.
  • The Books should be returned in due time. Else, Over due charges will be levied from the students as per library rules for each day the document is kept over time. All the books borrowed by users should be returned before the commencement of vacations.
  • In case a user loses a borrowed document from the library, he/she should replace with a new one of the same document.
  • Any discrepancies related to the document borrowed should be brought to the notice of the library staff immediately.

Greetings from the Department of Library and Information Centre BGSCET

The BGSCET Library and Information Centre was established in 2022 with an initial collection of 4600 volumes of books in an area of 810 square meters. The library operates on an open access system, encouraging users to freely browse the collection. It boasts good ventilation for a comfortable reading and studying environment. Currently, the library has expanded its collection to include more than 4600 volumes of books and periodicals/magazines.

The books in the library are organized according to the Dewey Decimal Classification system. The library is divided into several sections, including:

      1. Periodical Section: This section houses various periodicals, journals, and magazines for reference and research purposes.
      2. References Section: This area is dedicated to reference materials, which can be used by students and researchers for academic purposes.
      3. Circulation Section: The circulation section is where users can borrow and return books from the library's collection.
      4. Reading Section: A designated space for users to read and study.

The library provides free access to its entire collection, and it has a seating capacity for more than 150 students, making it a suitable place for learning and research.

The Central Library at BGSCET offers a comprehensive collection of 4600+ volumes of books spanning over 200+ titles. Additionally, it provides access to 50 National and International Journals, 10 Magazines, and 16 Newspapers, catering to the diverse needs of students and researchers in the field of engineering.

To enhance accessibility, the library employs an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), allowing users to search and locate books within the collection easily. The library's operations are fully automated using the "Bar Code Mechanism" (BCM), which streamlines the borrowing and return processes, making it more efficient for library users.
